Nowadays, we all understand the importance of keeping the bodywork of our vehicle clean and, more or less, we regularly take our car to a car wash to remove resins, bird droppings, mosquitoes, etc.

However, we often do not pay the same care to the interior. Studies indicate that we spend around 9 hours a week inside the vehicle. This figure is multiplied in the case of carriers, delivery drivers, cab drivers, sales representatives, etc. For those for whom the vehicle is their workplace.

Therefore, first of all, there is the aesthetic point of view. No one likes to sit if the seats are too worn, with cigarette holes, open seams or exposed frame irons. Secondly, cleanlinessbecause you don’t want to sit in a place with with mosses, breadcrumbs or dog hairs.

But perhaps the most important thing is hygiene. hygiene. The interior of a vehicle, by definition, is an enclosed area and can be a source of contagion. Both from the aerosols we breathe and from the surfaces we come into contact with. In this way, regular cleaning is necessary to maintain the interior of our vehicles with minimum hygienic conditions.

Thus, in addition to having a safer, more beautiful and cared for appearance, we will avoid breakdowns. Good cleaning is important for the proper functioning of all elements.

Now that the coldest and wettest months of the year are approaching, it is important to pay special attention to interior care. Mud stains, dry leaves and humidity will appear, which not only give an ugly and unkempt appearance, but also favor the growth of mold inside the vehicle, creating bad odors and health risks.

Inside the vehicle we have many elements, dashboard, screens, pedals, roof, panels, seats, etc. all have their cleaning process and we will deal with it in other articles, focusing today on the cleaning of car upholstery.

How to clean car upholstery

For the correct cleaning of the seats of a vehicle we must take into account, first of all, the material of which the upholstery is made: textile, leather, leather, escay, alcantara. Secondly, the type of dirt we want to clean: dust, grease, food, etc.

Although for a correct cleaning, we must always start by removing dust, hair and any debris deposited on it; each material and each type of dirt have their characteristics and special care to be able to clean them respecting the materials and elements of the seats.

In FADEIN we have a series of products specially designed to help and facilitate these processes: FADEIN-TAPICERIAS, TAPI and MILUS.

If we have grease stains, food, urine, vomit, etc., we must remove the grease and the remains that may be on the upholstery. We can then spray the pure product directly on the stain, leaving it to act for at least 10 minutes. After this time, proceed to clean the seat.

If we have chewing gum, it would be best to apply ice to it, so that it freezes and it is easier to remove the gum. If a stain remains after removal, proceed as indicated in the previous paragraph.

 

How to clean a fabric upholstery.

Perhaps the greatest advantage of fabric upholstery is that it allows for a greater variety of ways to clean it and allows for less delicacy in the cleaning task.

We can clean them dry, with water and detergent, with steam, or combining all of them. The main thing is to know what dirt we have to clean and what products and materials we have available.

Apply the foam evenly on the seat, leaving it for a few minutes so that the product can penetrate the textile fibers and loosen the dirt. Next, scrub with a brush to help release the dirt. Finally, with a microfiber cloth or an extraction injection machine, we will proceed to rinse and remove the detergent and dirt remains.

in the proportion indicated in the data sheet. Spray the product and leave it for a few minutes to soften the dirt. Proceed to brush or rub with a microfiber cloth until the dirt is removed. Rinse with warm water and a microfiber cloth or a vacuum cleaner.

Car upholstery steam cleaningTemperature is almost always an ally when it comes to cleaning, however, if we help you with one of our detergents and a good brushing, we will finish sooner and, more importantly, we will be able to clean without getting the seats very wet. Moisture is the main problem in this type of upholstery, since it penetrates more easily through the fabric.

Try not to use more water or product than necessary, as excess moisture can affect the electrical components of the seats. Dry everything well and as well as possible, so that everything remains in an optimal state, no mold or stench is generated. To speed up the process, you can put a dehumidifier in the car. or a heater.

How to clean leather upholstery.

Both leather and leather are very beautiful and give a touch of sportiness and style, but at the same time, they are particularly delicate materials.

For the correct cleaning of car upholstery, after removing dust, lint and any thick element that may have the seats, proceed to clean with a microfiber cloth impregnated with any of our products: FADEIN-TAPICERIAS, TAPI, MILUS. Rub very carefully so as not to cause friction or rubbing, which can easily leave marks on the skin or leather. For rinsing, use a cloth dampened with warm water. Always take care not to wet excessively, to avoid damaging the material.

Special attention should be paid to the seams, which are the most delicate part and accumulate the most dirt. Make sure they do not darken or fray due to excess humidity.

Moisturizing, finally, after a good cleansing and to prevent cracks, streaks and tears, it is advisable to keep these surfaces well hydrated. You can use specific products or moisturizers.

How to clean plaster upholstery.

Some classic and reupholstered cars may feature this type of leather-like material. Although it is usually more resistant due to its plastic components, it is advisable to clean it in a manner similar to that indicated for leather and fur. Applying a vacuum cleaner gently so as not to mark the surface and applying the product in the indicated proportion.

Although it admits humidity better than leather or fur, it is not advisable to wet it excessively. Humidity, dryness and sunlight have a special effect on them.

How to clean Alcantara upholstery.

Seats with this type of microfiber, which imitates suede, are proliferating lately. It is usually combined with leather, with a soft, pleasant and even sporty touch.

Alcantara is more resistant than other surfaces, but it also needs to be cleaned. The most recommended way is with a microfiber cloth dampened with

. Rinsing also with a microfiber dampened in warm water. It is NOT advisable to apply too much pressure to avoid leaving marks.

In order for the fibers to unravel and regain their original fluffy feel, it will be necessary to dry and brush the hair well, leaving it loose and combing it with a very soft bristle brush.

As we said before, hygiene is very important, therefore, in cases where it is necessary, the upholstery can be disinfected. For this purpose, we will use the product FADEIN-707-V. We have two ways to apply it:

    1. Add 4% of the product in the detergent mixture and proceed to clean the upholstery with one of the methods explained above.
    2. Impregnate a microfiber cloth with the product diluted to 4% and, after cleaning the upholstery of the car, wipe the entire surface.
